GroundFrog Day begins, will the amphibian see his shadow?
Snohomish, WA…GroundFrog Day and “It’s Easy being Green” Frogorama 2010 is scheduled for January 30th, where our Northwest Frognostication Ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Ferguson Park, 1330 Ferguson Park Road, Snohomish, WA. A special dedication of a park bench will be made to honor the founder of GroundFrog Day, Daryl Bertholet who passed away in July of 2009.
Snohomish Slew, the Meteorologist Frognosticator extraordinaire and mighty small hero to all the weather weary “Gets the Jump" on Punxsutawney Phil and his shadowy claim to fame. Slew will deliver his message to GroundFrog Day Royalty and all attending subjects via his faithful scribes. Slew’s Scribes, fluent in frogese, will pronounce Slew’s long range winter weather prediction. Do we brace for another 8 more weeks of Foggy, Soggy and Wet or do we look forward to skies of gray, moist and breezy? (After all, this is the Northwest.)
Slew welcomes another Northwest aquatic legend to the 2010 GroundFrog day festivities, the Mighty Sea-Fair Moby Duck crewed by the crowd pleasing Sea-Fair Pirates. The Hopp Racing-Graham Trucking –Pumptech Hydroplane is also a new attraction coming to this year’s event. Slew is also joined by his favorite mascot friends, Community Transit Oxygene, Aqua Socks Webbly, Kla Ha Ya Days Tad and his very own alter-ego Fuzzy Slew who loves giving hugs to all his friends, no matter how small or tall.
The Community Frogorama will be held at the National Guard Armory building from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Slew's passion for Northwest Green continues at the Frogorama by promoting how we all can live, work, play and ride green with vending booths, Kid’s recycled Arts and Crafts, frogtabulous games, Green demonstrations, and great entertainment.
GroundFrog Day is a Snohomish Chamber of Commerce and First Heritage Bank, sponsored by BECU of Lake Stevens, Chuck’s Seafood Grotto, and hosted by J.D. the D.J. Catch the Beat; Just Frogs Toad Too Foundation and N.W. Sand and Gravel.
Learn how you can win the title of King, Queen, Prince and Princess to reign as the 2011 GroundFrog Day Royalty and represent Slew at the Snohomish Easter Parade, Kla Ha Ya Days Parade and Festival of Pumpkins.
